Neem Bark powder has traditionally been used for oral health, for heartburn and indigestion, due to its gastro-protective properties and to relieve pain in arthritis. Recent research has been focussing on its anti-tumour and antiviral (interferon-inducing) effects and how these may be applied to COVID 19 prevention and treatment.1

Neem Bark Tea
¼ teaspoon in 1 cup of water. Allow to infuse/cool and strain. Do not exceed 2-4 cups per day. You can add flavourings (eg. lemon juice or mint leaves) and sweeteners (eg. honey) to taste.
The tea can be refrigerated and used as a gargle for sore throats 4-6x per day or as a mouthwash. Discard after 5-7 days
Neem Bark can be added to toothpaste, or used to make up a home recipe toothpowder (see recipe below)
Neem Tooth Powder
- Neem bark pwdr 1 oz
- Baking soda 1 oz
- Calcium carbonate 2 oz
- Fine clove pwdr ¼ oz
Mix together and sprinkle on toothbrush to use. Or add water to form a paste, then add a little glycerin and mix vigorously for a minute or two. Store in a sealed jar for up to 1 week.

In general, use neem for short periods and only for as long as necessary. Test your own tolerance for neem in small incremental steps, and if any signs of sensitivity appear, stop use immediately. Neem is contraindicated for use in people wishing to conceive and should be avoided during pregnancy and breast-feeding due to lack of safety studies.
